Is this school uniform fair?
jvc1821 asked:
First let me say that I live in California and it sometimes gets very hot in my uniform. I am a high school boy and this is my school uniform:
Navy Blue or Black Blazer(has to stay on all the time but you are sometimes allowed to take it off in class)
White or blue oxford shirt(most people wear white)
Tie
Navy blue black or gray dress pants
Black shoes(dress)
Black or Khaki socks
The uniform for girls is similar but they don’t have to wear a tie and can wear skirts but and they have to wear a white shirt and a navy blue blazer. (It’s still not very different)
In spring/fall you are allowed to take your blazer off in class if you want to
We have AC
It is a private school

Well since it’s pretty hot in Cali you probably shouldn’t be wearing blazers, and tie’s at school. You should talk to your principal about that, or the school board.

What is wrong with it. The school is trying to teach you disipline.

No that’s ridicules at my school you can wear anything you want if its appropriate to the school dress code. Basically you can’t wear anything with bad words on it.

If you didn’t have AC, and weren’t allowed to take the blazer off, I would say it was unfair, but that doesn’t sound so bad to me. It’s what millions of people wear to work every day! Get used to it.

Sounds like a standard uniform. I wore a similar uniform for many years and it had no ill effect on my life. In fact, it was probably good as I came from a lower middle class family (my non-school clothes were a bit shabby). The only odd part is the Khaki socks. They don’t go with navy blue, black or gray dress pants, kind of an odd choice.

whats wrong with that? my uniform is similar but then again i like in the UK and its cooler here…
hmm, try creating a petition and get everyone at school to sign it. or write a letter to the head (principle) suggesting realistic changes to the uniform.

Perhaps not the uniform you currently have, I mean dependent on the area they could make changes to reflect that .
I do not totally agree with the uniform…But it is for a good reason.
It is suppose to take focus off of the fashion and keep students mind on school.
When you are young and in school that sounds just stupid..But when you get a little older …and have kids no dought …..It makes better sense.

Yes, it is fair, a school is not a democracy it is a dictatorship and they can make what ever rules and dress codes as they want…

That uniform sounds fair. It may get a little hot in the summer but do you go outside a lot? Once school is out of session, you can take the blazer off right? I think it sounds okay. Plus, you should by happy to wear a uniform. I have to wear one also, but some of my friends who go to public school, but came from a private one, hate that they have to pick out their clothing every day (I know it sounds hard to believe). But I would just say, grin and bear it, because I’m sure your principal won’t want to change it.
